This morning I was invited by Damien Van Achter to participate in a workshop on Digital Security for students in journalism. During two hours we talked about the online world and its lack of security, the state of surveillance as shown by the Snowden leaks, the various threats models for journalists, and some best practices to reduce their exposition, protect their work and their sources.
The debate was excellent, and I think we achieved our goal of bringing awareness and encourage them to think proactively about their online security.
We'll do it again in the coming weeks with a few other groups of students. So, if you have any feedback and suggestions, please comment!
